With the reassurance of my friend Chris, I have successfully set up my camera server. Although it's old, it works and will reset on every crash. I have three cameras (two of them working as a beta test) and will add approximately four more. This surveillance system is broadcast live over http and comes with a capable, if not impressive, motion detection algorithm. Even if thieves break in and steal the server, I will have recorded evidence in the cloud. All angles in my house are covered. The coolest aspect of this new system is: I can remotely view all my cameras over 3g via cellphone. Any browser enabled phone. Woot! I am also going to set up a housecam for my dog and daily activities (on a limited time slot). This is, after all, my blog. Although the powers that be want me to promote my book, I can't help but share the fun and joy I experience with technology. Don't worry, you'll still get any applicable news about the current and soon-to-be-published work.
